Privacy Policy

What Jinni collects, why, and the choices you have — including exactly what happens to camera footage during a session.
Overview and scope
This Privacy Policy explains what information Jinni collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It covers the Jinni mobile app, this website, and the support and billing services we provide around them.
Jinni is a movement-guidance product. Some of what it handles — how you move, how rested you feel, what you want to improve — is personal. We have tried to write this policy in plain language rather than hide behind it.
Who operates Jinni
Jinni.AI is operated by Sency Interactive LTD, which is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at support@tryjinni.com.
Information you provide
Information you give us directly, including:
- the email address you use to create an account or start a subscription;
- the movement goals you select, such as mobility, posture, balance, or strength;
- preferences such as available equipment, session length, and movements to avoid;
- daily check-ins describing how you feel;
- questions, feedback, and support messages you send us.
Account and profile information
We keep the information needed to operate your account: your identifier, sign-in state, subscription status, and the settings you have chosen. We do not require your legal name, your address, or a profile photograph in order to use Jinni.
Goals, preferences, and self-reported wellness information
Goals and check-ins are self-reported wellness information, not medical records. We use them to choose and shape sessions. Where local law treats this category as sensitive, we handle it on the basis of your consent and you can withdraw that consent by deleting the relevant information or your account.
Movement sessions and derived movement data
When you complete a session, Jinni records information about the session so it can show your history and adapt future guidance. This is derived data — measurements and summaries produced from the movement analysis — such as which movements you performed, repetitions and duration, and summary measures of range and control.
Derived movement data is not video. It is the numbers the app calculated while you moved.
Camera processing and raw video
During an active session, Jinni uses your device camera to analyse how you are moving. That analysis happens on your device.
Jinni does not store your raw workout video and does not send it for human review. The camera feed is processed to produce the movement measurements described above, and the frames themselves are discarded.
Camera access is used only while a session or assessment that needs it is running. You can revoke camera permission at any time in your device settings; guidance that depends on the camera will stop working, and the rest of the app will continue.
Apple Health and optional health signals
Apple Health integration is optional and off unless you enable it. When enabled, Jinni reads the signals you authorise — such as sleep, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, and recent activity — to provide readiness context.
We use these signals to adjust the focus or intensity of a session. We do not use them to diagnose anything, we do not sell them, and we do not use them for advertising. You can turn the integration off at any time in Apple Health or in the app.
Questions, feedback, and conversation
If you ask Jinni a question or request a change to a session, we process that message to respond and to improve the guidance you receive. Do not send us information you would not want recorded — a conversational interface is still a written record.
Subscription and payment information
Payments are handled by our payment providers, not by us. When you subscribe through the App Store, Apple processes the payment and shares a subscription status with us. When you subscribe on the web, our payment processor handles your card details directly.
We never receive or store your full card number. We do keep the records we need for billing, tax, and dispute handling: your subscription status, the plan, the purchase channel, and the processor's transaction references.
Device, usage, analytics, and diagnostics
We collect limited technical information — device model, operating-system version, app version, crash reports, and how features are used in aggregate — to keep Jinni reliable and to decide what to improve. We do not combine this with your movement data to build an advertising profile.
Website cookies and similar technologies
This website uses storage that is strictly necessary to make it work — for example, a random identifier that links your checkout to your subscription, and your privacy choices.
Analytics and marketing technologies load only where you have consented. If you decline, they are not loaded at all and the site continues to work normally. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy control in the footer.
How we use information
- to provide movement assessments, sessions, and real-time guidance;
- to personalise recommendations from your goals, history, readiness, and feedback;
- to show your progress over time;
- to operate your account and subscription;
- to answer support requests;
- to keep the service secure, reliable, and free from abuse;
- to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
Legal bases
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of our contract with you (providing the service and your subscription); your consent (Apple Health, optional analytics and marketing, and sensitive wellness information where applicable); our legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, and product improvement); and compliance with legal obligations (tax and accounting records).
How information is shared
We share personal information only in these situations:
- with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract;
- with payment providers, to take payment and manage subscriptions;
- where we are legally required to, or to protect rights and safety;
- in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — in which case this policy continues to apply until you are notified of a change.
Service providers
We use providers for cloud hosting, crash and performance monitoring, payment processing, and email delivery. Each is bound by contract to process personal information only on our instructions. We will provide the current list on request at support@tryjinni.com.
We do not sell your personal information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Your movement data, readiness signals, and Apple Health data are never sold or used to target advertising.
Retention
We keep information for as long as your account is active, so that your history and progress remain available to you. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify the personal information associated with it.
Some records are kept longer where the law requires it — payment and tax records in particular — or where we need them to resolve a dispute or prevent fraud. Backups are purged on their normal rotation.
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege practices for internal access. Performing movement analysis on your device rather than on a server is itself a security decision: data that is never transmitted cannot be intercepted or breached. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify you and the relevant authorities where the law requires it.
International transfers
We may process information in countries other than your own. Where we transfer personal information out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on an adequacy decision or on Standard Contractual Clauses together with any additional measures required.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your information, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where we rely on it. Most of this is available directly in the app; for anything else, contact support@tryjinni.com.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.
GDPR and UK rights
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. We would rather hear from you first, but that right is yours regardless.
California rights
California residents may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, request deletion or correction, and opt out of any sale or sharing. As stated above, we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. You may use an authorised agent to make a request.
Children and age eligibility
Jinni is not intended for children. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; if we learn that we have, we delete it.
Third-party services
Apple's App Store, Apple Health, and our payment providers have their own privacy policies governing what they collect. This policy covers what Jinni does, not what those services do.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top of the page always reflects the current version, and we will give notice in the app or by email before a material change takes effect.
